Anime Next RECAP!
This blog shall be about what happened at AnimeNext08. It was a blast, but there were alot of mess ups that I have to learn from NOW and with my mind fried from latenight fun I have to write as much of this down as possible.
Day 1: I wish I had a car before all this happened, but I did what I could and got to the line with all my bags. No early check in meant I was stuck hauling it till Lily got there and she grabbed all the bags and held them in her car. After grabbing badges for everyone I got unfortunate thermal crotch explosion with my costume. Funny since they were so baggy on me. Got to change in the parking garage outa costume and into normal clothing. Woot! outa hot costume! As the line to the dealers room was too big I went straight to artist alley to see Chris Malone who does Blue and Blond ( www.blueandblond.com ). I gave him a box of cookies cause he had been so nice to me. Plus got my guinea pig.
Around 1 or so the Webcomics panel began...I got in a little late for I got stuck waiting for friends to give them their badges. After sitting there for about an hour or so the guy directly in front of my asked EVERY question that I wanted to ask. It was good cause I learned everything I wanted to but still I wanted to be seen as 'HI I'M WORKING ON THE SAME KINDA THING SO PLEASE TEACH ME!'. From there the day was a large blur. I got to see my girl friend sing in the kareoke contest. Plus handed out lots of flyers. BTW the Laquinta hotel is HUGE and can fit loads of peoples. it was a perfect place to have everyone.
Day2, aka it shoulda been a scavenger hunt: I had to awaken early for the panel on the business of webcomics. Lots of great tips and learning I was on the right track made me feel real good. Of course the day couldn't go smoothly from there. I forgot to bring my flyers with the scavenger hunt lists. So I called my girl to bring them to me. She got them but she couldn't bring them to me cause she had to get checked in for the masquerade. So my friends were supposed to give them to me. Instead they handed them out prob without looking at what was on both sides of them. So I spent much of the day angrily playing games. From there I got dinner, did a little dancing, and finally ended up playing werewolf. That started badly and I was forced to txt for help immidiately. When Jess arrived it got a little better.. Finally it was 6 am and time to head back to the hotel.
Day3, or OMFG IT'S 11!: yea I had the hotel only for the 2 nights and I was exhausted so I had get up get everyone out and then run like crazy. The hotel refused to hold our bags for the 3 hours left of the con. So we had to haul it around. I got to say goodbye to chris and buy a shirt before saying goodbye. It was a great day, but sad as I said good bye to all my friends. The support of them helped greatly, and their mess ups helped me learn how to deal with failures. I got home, fell asleep, and woke up a day later.
AN08 was great, but I had a few slip ups, and next year I'll be moving along.
